Wednesday - WOD 63 - Pulling Grace

This week marks the Start of the Lent. It is a season to reflect on Jesus and his suffering, his sacrifice, his life, death, burial and resurrection.
Sometimes we get caught up on the Awe of our own lives which includes focusing on our CrossFit heroes like Froning, Bailey, Kalipa, Valenzuela, and so on. Because of this, we tend to forget or lose sight of our real Mission.
Sure, Dan Bailey and Rich Froning can do awesome things when it comes to CrossFit, but have we reflected on the amazing things that Jesus did?

I can honestly say that sometimes I forget that Jesus WALKED ON WATER!
Would he use that ability to get his Fran time under 2 minutes?
Not that Jesus would ever get into CrossFit, but if he did, would he be a Rich Froning, or would he be an unknown coach somewhere just changing peoples lives? MAKES YOU THINK!

What about the fact that we will alter our lives, diets, and dress patterns at the drop of a hat because of something that we saw on a CrossFit page. What about what Jesus did. He walked in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights without food or water and then was temped by the devil.

Matthew 4:1-4
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 He fasted forty days and forty nights, and afterwards he was famished. 3 The tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” 4 But he answered, “It is written,
‘One does not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Have we ever tried to emulate this sacrifice in any way?
Have we ever tried to give something up for 40 days and nights in order to become more focused on the things that really matter?

That is the challenge of Lent... Change something in your life for 40 days and 40 nights that will draw you closer to your spiritual mission!
